Mt. Boucherie Bears v. Pacific Academy Breakers

The tension hung thick in the air as Mt. Boucherie and Pacific Academy faced off in round 2 of the No Regrets Tournament.

The first quarter unfolded with both teams exchanging powerful plays. Pacific Academy started with a ton of energy, being very vocal as a team! #12 Simon Akindele started the game with the most energy, doing a little bit of everything for the Breakers, punctuating an early run with an emphatic block. #7 Mesfin and #21 Mulugeta chipped in to help Pacific Academy extend their lead. However, you can never count the Mt. Boucherie Bears out. They just kept on coming. They’re discipline and tenacity on defense was impressive to say the least. A team with 13 players, where almost every player saw the floor. They all had a role to play in this game. It was #2 Miyazaki from Mt Boucherie that kept them within striking distance.

End of 1st – 28-16.

Mt Boucherie just wouldn’t go away. That was the theme of this one, with each player contributing in some way. Including #5 Watters - showing off a sweet stroke, and #11 Rishaug playing tough on the inside and also hitting a couple nice shots. As the game progressed, Pacific Academy’s tight defense and explosive offence began to stifle Mt. Boucherie, with #7 Mesfin forcing a few turnovers and running the fast break for some easy buckets.

Score at half 36-44 for Pacific Academy.

The Second half was the Mesfin show! He put up a game-high 40 pts. Carving the Mt Boucherie defense up. Mt Boucherie never let up and kept it competitive until the final buzzer. However, in the end, Pacific Academy’s strength, size, and offensive talent was too much. The Breakers broke the Bears' hearts.
