Boys: Collingwood vs. Charles Hays Spirit Game
In the opening game at Collingwood School, the Collingwood Cavaliers faced off against the Charles Hays Rainmakers at 2:00 p.m on December 8th. Both teams came out strong and were ready for a battle as soon as the players took the floor. Skyler Wesley was a thunderstorm and rained down two early threes for Charles Hays. This helped them reach their 26-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. The crowd at Collingwood was nothing short of enthusiastic and every member was dressed in white as part of their organized “white-out” to support the Cavaliers.
In the second quarter the Cavs were soft on defensive and offensive rebounds, allowing Charles Hays to stretch their lead to 54-35. The Rainmakers honed in on their defense and held the Cavaliers to 5 points in the third quarter, only giving up one basket to Samir Damji and a three pointer from Kane Vidalin. Collingwood tried to fight their way back into the game for the last quarter but could not hold off the Rainmakers who pulled ahead to win the game with a final score of 69-39.
Through all 4 quarters, the Rainmakers shot 50% on free throws and #6, Ben Rabel, was the leading scorer with 18 points. Both teams will play tomorrow but time and venue are to be determined.
